EXAMINATION

The examination system for the B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing, and M.Sc. Nursing programmes is conducted under the academic supervision and regulatory framework of the Odisha University of Health Sciences (OUHS), which is the sole authority responsible for conducting examinations for nursing education in Odisha. All examinations are conducted strictly in accordance with the guidelines, regulations, curriculum, and syllabi prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), New Delhi, and implemented by OUHS.

OUHS is entrusted with the responsibility of conducting semester-wise and annual examinations, publishing examination schedules, issuing admit cards, evaluating answer scripts, processing results, and awarding academic qualifications to successful candidates. The University ensures transparency, uniformity, and academic excellence in the assessment and evaluation process across all affiliated nursing institutions.

The B.Sc. Nursing and Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing programmes follow the examination pattern prescribed under the nursing curriculum of the Indian Nursing Council and implemented by OUHS. Student performance is evaluated through a comprehensive assessment system comprising theory examinations, practical examinations, internal assessments, clinical performance evaluations, assignments, viva-voce examinations, and continuous academic assessment conducted during the course period.

The M.Sc. Nursing programme follows the postgraduate nursing education regulations framed by the Indian Nursing Council and administered by OUHS. Assessment includes advanced theory examinations, clinical practicum evaluation, internal assessments, seminars, presentations, research activities, dissertation work, and viva-voce examinations, designed to strengthen students’ clinical competence, leadership, teaching ability, and research skills.

Students are required to maintain the prescribed attendance percentage, complete clinical postings, practical training, internal assessment requirements, and fulfil all academic eligibility conditions laid down by OUHS and INC before becoming eligible to appear in the university examinations.

Successful completion of the prescribed examinations enables students to earn their professional nursing qualifications and opens pathways for professional registration, higher education, advanced clinical practice, nursing education, administration, research, and diverse career opportunities in the healthcare sector.
